Serving Uganda Since
The Uganda Kidney Foundation (UKF) is a Ugandan non-governmental, not-for-profit health organisation working to reduce illness and deaths associated with kidney disease. Its work spans prevention, early detection, patient support, professional training, research and advocacy.
UKF was founded in 2011 by Dr Robert Kalyesubula, Dr Joseph Lunyera and Dr Peace Bagasha, with Dr Ssekasanvu serving as Patron. Dr Kalyesubula is widely recognised as the Foundation’s founding president.
UKF conducts public education and prevention campaigns, community screening, patient-support initiatives, research and advocacy. It also strengthens the health workforce through specialised training; its haemodialysis training programme has prepared healthcare workers to serve in dialysis centres across Uganda.
UKF is based in Kampala, Uganda. Its publicly listed office is at the Clinical Research Building, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. UKF also works with hospitals, healthcare professionals and communities in different parts of the country.
